The Civil Engineering Draftsperson will work as part of the engineering and design team to support
civil engineers and technologists by preparing detailed technical drawings, plans, and designs for
civil construction and infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, foundations, and drainage
systems. This role is critical to transforming engineering concepts into precise, buildable
documentation.

Full-Time (38 ordinary hours per week)
$82,000 per annum (base salary) + Superannuation

Duties and Responsibilities
• Create technical drawings, plans, and designs for construction and civil infrastructure projects.
• Support civil engineers and technologists by translating concepts into technical illustrations and working drawings.
• Develop detailed project and work plans to guide construction and engineering activities.
• Evaluate designs and specifications for quality, feasibility, and compliance with codes and standards.
• Interpret and review blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and documentation to determine project requirements.
• Conduct fieldwork including surveys of bodies of water and adjacent or underwater land where applicable.
• Perform and oversee laboratory and on-site testing related to materials, soil, and construction elements.
• Collect, analyze, and compute engineering data to inform design and construction activities.
• Estimate quantities and material costs, ensuring that work complies with specifications, safety standards, and contract provisions.
• Inspect civil engineering works and participate in the supervision of maintenance and repair activities.

Qualification and Experience
• Qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Drafting, or a related field (Diploma or higher).
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience is required.
• Proven experience in drafting structural or civil components, ideally in the steel framing or construction industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of structural elements and construction methods, particularly related to infrastructure and light gauge steel framing.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
