ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team, which provides accounting support to the Finance Manager. This role is responsible for financial reporting, cost analysis, and providing accounting assistance to the finance group in coordinating and finalising month end processes in a timely manner.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparation of financial statements such as Profit and Loss and Balance sheet.
• Preparation of management reports such as prepayment schedules, profit analysis, sales analysis.
• Preparation of annual budgets by analysing historical financial data, revenue trends and operational expenses to support strategic planning and decision making.
• Monitoring foreign exchange rates and assessing the financial impact of currency movements on overseas transactions.
• Carrying out bank reconciliations for all the bank accounts and taking appropriate action to rectify any abnormalities.
• Preparation and processing for month end journal entries to support accurate financial reporting and account reconciliations.
• Monitoring debtor payments and liaising with customers regarding debtor settlements.
• Liaising with external auditors with any inquiry to have a smooth finalization of year end accounts.
• Reviewing and providing feedback on the drafted financial statements, tax computation and tax return provided by external auditors.
• Liaising with company secretaries in preparation of resolutions in respect of dividend payments.
• Managing overseas supplier payments and liaising with purchasing officer for any discrepancies.
• Conducting comprehensive cost analysis of raw materials, production inputs and overheads to ensure accurate product costing and profitability tracking.
• Managing and overseeing the end-to-end costing and estimating function, ensuring timely preparation of quotations supported by cost and margin analysis.
• Reviewing and updating price books based on detailed cost reviews, margin assessments and changes in raw material costs to maintain targeted gross profit levels.
• Advising senior management on cost fluctuations, pricing adjustments and profitability impacts arising from market or supplier changes.
• Develop and maintain procedure manuals for accounting operations, ensuring process consistency, compliance with internal controls, and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Preparation and analysis of weekly and monthly management reports including sales performance report and cash flow management.
• Maintaining the fixed asset register, accounting for asset additions, transfers and disposals, and preparing year-end fixed asset work papers for audit purposes.
• Preparation and posting of monthly depreciation schedules and analysing operating expenditure to assist management in decision making.
• Providing accurate and up to date information for finance managers for cash flow management and budget.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field. Preferably a Master’s degree or equivalent.
• Working towards or willing to undertake CA or CPA qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience, with 1 year experience in Manufacturing industry.
• Experience in cost accounting will be highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger management and reconciliations.
• Highly developed problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience with ERP/payroll systems such as Sage 300, Micropay and seams is essential.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• High attention to detail and accurate reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
