Executive Legal Secretary Legal Assistant
Location: New York City
A nonprofit corporation established to advance civil and human rights and promote justice for all, located in NYC, is looking for an Executive Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant.
Duties:
Must have litigation experience and federal filing and drafting experience
Maintains calendars to include court and docketing matters, including making appointments, scheduling depositions.
Answer phone calls in a polite and professional manner.
Formats letters and pleadings; ability to apply court rules
Experience in filing court documents and serving subpoenas (electronically or in person) a plus
Manages day to day functions of the law office such as ordering supplies
Organize meetings, including scheduling, sending reminders, and organizing catering when necessary.
Open, distribute, read and handle mail and emails as requested or required.
Maintains and manages up-to-date electronic filing systems.
Ability to use PACER and any ECM filing systems a plus.
Manage and book travel and accommodation as well as communicating those arrangements with a high level of detail and follow through.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has 3-5 years minimum law office experience, is both approachable and respectful, comfortable with new technology, virtual meeting platforms and scheduling systems; comfortable taking the initiative when faced with administrative decisions; attention to detail is required. Candidates should also have experience with Microsoft office and other basic application, presentation, and processing systems.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position with benefits. $80--125K annual salary, DOE
