Fildes is a printing and manufacturing business of quality self-adhesive labels, bags and other printed items, while diversifying into other related areas along the way.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Accountant for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting while supporting strong financial controls and governance across the Fildes group. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for core accounting activities including managing monthly management reports, financial performance, month end processes and contribute to ongoing process improvement across the Finance team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Preparation of accurate and timely Financial Statements such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow Statement with accompanying notes including product margin analysis.
2. Reporting and analysis, including analysis of all aspects of sales, COGS and operating expenses information.
3. Manage month-end close processes, including the preparation, posting, and review of general journal entries and associated financial reporting.
4. Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger, balance sheet and intercompany accounts and take prompt corrective action to address discrepancies or abnormalities.
5. Prepare annual budgets through detailed analysis of historical financial data, revenue patterns, and operational costs to support business planning.
6. Prepare and lodge periodic payroll tax and Business Activity Statements (BAS) in compliance with statutory requirements.
7. Prepare and analyse monthly product sales reports (Dissection Report), highlighting quantities sold and sales value against budget targets to support business decision-making.
8. Conduct periodic stock takes and reconcile physical inventory with accounting records as part of audit and control procedures.
9. Reconcile inventory balances, including raw materials and closing stock, to ensure accurate cost allocation and product margin reporting.
10. Perform bank reconciliations for all accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
11. Administer weekly and monthly payroll processes, including end-of-month reporting of PAYG, superannuation.
12. Perform monthly superannuation reconciliation.
13. Manage Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) obligations related to company vehicles or other benefits, ensuring accurate calculation and compliance with relevant regulations.
14. Preparation and analysis of weekly and monthly management reports including sales performance report and cash flow management.
15. Manage and maintain the company vehicle register, ensuring all vehicles are properly insured, and accurately allocate and monitor related expenses including fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs.
16. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and collaborate with the Finance Manager on monthly cash flow forecasts.
17. Prepare financial insights and reporting that support decision making across Fildes Group.
18. Propose and implement new systems or process improvements to streamline operations and reduce costs.
19. Ensure compliance with Fildes Group Finance Policy, accounting standards, internal procedures and relevant legislation.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field. Preferably a Master’s degree or equivalent.
2. Working towards or willing to undertake CA or CPA qualification.
3. Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience, with 1 year experience in Manufacturing industry.
4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll and taxation requirements.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Experience using ERP/payroll systems such as Sage 300, Micropay, Qtime and Seams is essential.
7. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
8. High attention to detail and accurate reconciliation skills.
9. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
