We work with automotive service providers to source skilled professionals and are currently seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic for a full-time role in the Northern Territory.
Position Description
The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a range of vehicles. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills and the ability to work efficiently while complying with safety and regulatory standards.
Tasks Include
• Diagnosed and identified mechanical and electrical faults in a wide range of vehicles using both hands-on inspection and computer-based diagnostic equipment
• Carried out the removal and dismantling of engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other key components, carefully inspecting each part to determine wear, damage, or required repairs.
• Repaired or replaced worn and defective components, ensuring all work was completed to manufacturer specifications by referring to relevant service manuals and technical guides.
• Performed routine servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and engine tune-ups to maintain optimal vehicle performance and meet emission standards.
• Reassembled engines and mechanical components after repairs, ensuring all parts were correctly fitted and aligned.
• Tested and adjusted mechanical systems after reassembly to confirm proper operation and reliability before returning vehicles to customers.
• Responded promptly to vehicle breakdowns, providing efficient on-site diagnostics and repair services when required.
• Utilised modern diagnostic tools and computer systems to accurately assess faults and support repair processes.
• Conducted vehicle inspections to assess roadworthiness and provided clear recommendations on necessary repairs to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Skills and Experience
• Relevant qualification in automotive mechanical technology or equivalent (Cert III or Cert IV)
• 2 years’ experience as a Motor Mechanic
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
