Job Title: Full-time Accountant
Salary: $78,000 $82,000 plus superannuation
Duties and Skills
• Examining the company’s income and expenditure to identify major variances with the forecasts and monitoring the operating costs
• Preparing and managing statutory reporting and tax compliance tasks, including quarterly BAS, monthly IAS, Yearly Tax Returns, and other returns as required by relevant statutory bodies
• Providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations
• Assessing and implementing new business expanding and financial processes
• Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports
and their compliance with statutory requirements
• Assisting in formulating organizational budgetary and accounting policies
• Preparing financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management,
shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies
• Maintaining cloud-based systems
• Maintaining internal control systems and implementing new business and financial
processes
• Appraise of daily cash flow
• Maintaining daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliation and credit card
reconciliation
• Preparing weekly, monthly and annual financial reports for the company
• Preparing schedules and reconciliation of balance sheet items
• Preparing of management reports, budgets and forecasts and present it to the
director
• Negotiating the terms of business deals
• Ensuring integrity and accuracy of inputs and financial data and ensuring they meet statutory requirements
• End of month workbooks preparation which include Petty cash Reconciliations and Stock Journals.
Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 2 3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and compliance requirements
• Experience in preparing and lodging BAS, IAS, and assisting with income tax returns
• Understanding of GST, PAYG withholding, and superannuation obligations
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Strong knowledge of Xero accounting software (essential)
• Experience in payroll processing and compliance with Fair Work requirements
• Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic financial advice
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including data analysis and reporting)
• Experience working in small to medium-sized businesses
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial processes
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with management
