Job Title: Dairy Cattle Farmer
Location: 6045 Illawarra Highway, Avoca, NSW - 2577
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $79,500 per annum plus superannuation
Key Responsibilities
• Breeding and raising livestock to achieve production and business objectives.
• Overseeing and implementing breeding, feeding and nutrition programs.
• Monitoring and maintaining livestock health, welfare and condition.
• Implementing biosecurity measures and livestock risk management strategies.
• Managing calving programs and monitoring breeding performance.
• Providing water and overseeing pasture, fodder crop, hay and silage production to maintain livestock health and productivity.
• Organising daily farming operations including livestock handling, drenching, vaccinations and animal husbandry activities.
• Directing and overseeing general farming activities including the maintenance of fences, sheds, yards, water systems and farm infrastructure.
• Maintaining accurate records relating to livestock performance, breeding activities, treatments, feed usage and farm production.
• Monitoring production outcomes and assisting with farm planning and operational decision-making.
• Coordinating the purchase, sale and transportation of livestock and farm inputs.
• Assisting with the supervision and training of farm workers and contractors where required.
• Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient
manner.
• Assisting with production planning and herd growth strategies.
• Evaluating livestock performance and breeding outcomes.
• Participating in budgeting, feed procurement and operational planning activities.
Essential Requirements
• At least 3 years of relevant full-time experience in livestock farming, cattle breeding, herd management or agricultural operations.
• Relevant qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, Livestock Production, Agribusiness or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of livestock husbandry, cattle breeding, nutrition, herd management and animal welfare practices.
• Experience operating dairy farm equipment and machinery.
• Ability to identify and respond to livestock health and welfare issues.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and animal welfare standards.
