Position: Personal Carer/Disability Support Worker
Full Time Role
Salary Range: $65,000 - $77,000 + SUPERANNUATION
About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Personal Carer to provide high-quality care and support for elderly and disabled individuals in a home or residential care setting. This role is vital in helping clients maintain their dignity, independence, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
• Assisting clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Supporting clients with mobility, including transferring between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.
• Preparing and serving meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe environment.
• Administering medications as directed and monitoring health conditions.
• Providing companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation.
• Assisting clients with physical activities and recreational pursuits to enhance quality of life.
• Observing and reporting any changes in clients' physical or emotional health to the appropriate professional.
• Supporting clients with transportation to medical appointments, shopping, or social activities.
• Assisting in the use of mobility aids and specialized equipment as required.
Required Skills
A relevant AQF Certificate III or higher qualification in Individual Support (Aging, Disability, or equivalent), with minimum course duration of 6 months and 120 hours practical experience within the training completed;
Or 2 years of relevant work experience at the same skill level within the past 3 years to substitute for the formal qualification.
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Personal Carer / Aged Care Worker / Disability Support Worker within the last 3 years is required, work experience should be undertaken for at least 20 hours per week.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to caregiving.
Ability to follow care plans and work under minimal supervision.
Knowledge of manual handling and infection control procedures.
