JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Mining & Exploration Specialist to support the Group’s expansion in the mining and mineral resources sector. The successful candidate will lead and support mineral exploration activities, evaluate prospective mineral assets, coordinate field and technical activities, and contribute to the development of commercially viable mining projects while ensuring regulatory and environmental compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and support mineral exploration activities, including geological investigations, resource identification, field studies, sampling, and mapping.
- Evaluate potential mineral deposits and assess their technical and commercial viability.
- Develop and implement exploration plans, programmes, schedules, and work plans.
- Analyse geological and exploration data and prepare technical reports and recommendations for Management.
- Support the evaluation and acquisition of prospective mining assets and mineral projects.
- Coordinate with geological consultants, mining contractors, regulatory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor exploration and mining activities to ensure compliance with approved technical, environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Support feasibility studies, mining plans, project proposals, and development strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve exploration efficiency, mineral recovery, and overall project value.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Keep abreast of developments in the Nigerian mining industry, mineral markets, and applicable regulatory requirements.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Resources, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certification or membership of a recognised professional body is an advantage.
- Proven experience in mineral exploration, mining operations, or mineral resource development.
- Strong knowledge of geological exploration techniques, mineral resource assessment, and mining practices.
- Good understanding of Nigeria’s mining laws, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Strong communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and undertake field assignments when required.
