We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our team and take a lead role in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, heating infrastructure, and associated mechanical services across our residential and commercial project portfolio.
The successful candidate will bring proven technical expertise across plumbing and heating disciplines, a strong commitment to safety and compliance, and the capability to deliver high-quality workmanship independently and as part of a wider multi-trade team.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Installation and Repair
Install, commission, maintain, and repair domestic and commercial plumbing systems including hot and cold water supply, waste and drainage pipework, and associated fittings
Install and connect sanitary ware, taps, showers, baths, and bathroom fittings to a high standard of finish
Carry out first and second fix plumbing works on new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects
Identify, diagnose, and resolve plumbing faults including leaks, blockages, and pipe failures
Install and commission water meters, pumps, cylinders, and pressurised water systems in line with manufacturer specifications and industry standards
Heating System Installation and Maintenance
Install, commission, service, and repair central heating systems including boilers, radiators, underfloor heating, and associated controls
Install and commission heat pumps, renewable heating systems, and energy-efficient heating technologies in line with current regulations and manufacturer guidance
Carry out boiler servicing, fault diagnosis, and remedial works across a range of domestic and commercial heating systems
Install and configure heating controls, thermostats, smart controls, and zone valves
Carry out system flushing, chemical treatment, and inhibitor dosing to maintain heating system performance and longevity
Ventilating and Mechanical Services
Install and maintain ventilation systems, mechanical extract units, and associated ductwork in residential and commercial properties
Work alongside HVAC and air conditioning engineers on integrated building services projects where required
Carry out pressure testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems in accordance with project specifications and Building Regulations
Identify and report defects, non-compliant installations, or safety concerns identified during site or maintenance visits
Liaise with other trades and project managers to coordinate mechanical services works on multi-trade projects
Compliance and Safety
Ensure all works are carried out in full compliance with current Water Regulations, Building Regulations (Part G, Part L, and Part P where applicable), and relevant British Standards
Complete all required certification, commissioning documentation, and compliance records accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain Gas Safe Registration (if applicable) and carry out gas-related works strictly in accordance with Gas Safe requirements
Conduct risk assessments and method statements prior to commencing works and adhere to all site health and safety requirements
Report any unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents to the appropriate person in line with company health and safety procedures
Customer Service and Site Conduct
Attend client sites punctually and conduct all works in a professional, courteous, and tidy manner
Communicate clearly with customers, site managers, and colleagues regarding works undertaken, findings, and any additional requirements identified
Provide accurate job completion information and support the preparation of works records, service reports, and certificates
Represent Amcore Limited with professionalism and integrity on all client and contractor sites
Support the preparation of quotations and scope of works documentation as required by management
Stock, Tools, and Vehicle Management
Maintain a well-organised and fully stocked vehicle or tool store, ensuring all required materials and equipment are available for planned works
Report stock requirements, material shortages, and equipment defects to management in a timely manner
Take responsibility for the safe keeping, condition, and maintenance of company tools, equipment, and any assigned vehicle
Complete vehicle checks, mileage logs, and maintenance records in accordance with company requirements
Ensure all materials used on site meet the quality and specification standards required by Amcore Limited
Person Specification
Essential
Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Plumber, Heating Engineer, or Plumbing and Heating Technician in a professional trade environment
Demonstrable ability to install, commission, service, and repair domestic and/or commercial plumbing and heating systems to a consistently high standard
Sound knowledge of current Water Regulations, Building Regulations, and relevant British Standards applicable to plumbing and heating works
Experience working with central heating systems, boilers, radiators, underfloor heating, and associated controls
Ability to read and work from technical drawings, specifications, and schematics
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across plumbing and heating systems
Commitment to health and safety best practice on site, including risk assessment and safe working procedures
Ability to work independently and manage own workload across multiple sites with minimal supervision
Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach to site work
Full UK driving licence or equivalent
Right to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating Engineering or equivalent qualification
Gas Safe Registration (ACS qualifications in CCN1, CPA1, HTR1, and associated appliance categories)
Experience installing or commissioning heat pumps, renewable heating systems, or energy-efficient technologies
Experience in bathroom installation and refurbishment projects
Familiarity with ventilation systems, mechanical extract units, and associated ductwork
Experience working within a multi-trade technical services or building maintenance environment
CSCS card or equivalent site competency card
Terms & Conditions
Salary: 38,500 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Holiday: 28 days per annum including bank holidays
Pension: Auto-enrolment in accordance with statutory requirements
Notice Period: One month (following probationary period)
Probationary Period: Six months
