Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Welding:
Verify material certificates, trace heat numbers, and inspect filler materials/consumables.
Check joint preparation, fit-up alignment, root gaps, and bevel angles.
Ensure welders possess the correct qualifications and that Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are available and followed.
During Welding:
Monitor welding parameters (amperage, voltage, travel speed) and interpass temperatures.
Ensure proper preheating and evaluate environmental/weather conditions.
Post-Welding:
Perform visual inspections to check for cracks, porosity, undercut, and correct dimensions.
Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods like X-rays (RT) or ultrasonic testing (UT).
Document inspection results, manage weld mapping, and generate turnover dossiers.
