Job Description

Assignment Context

The assignment involves project health checks and recovery / stabilization planning for a portfolio of major capital projects in the energy sector. Candidates will assess the quality, completeness and maturity of project deliverables supporting stage-gate decisions, including cost, schedule, scope, risk, procurement and delivery readiness. Outputs will include consolidated findings, root-cause analysis, actionable recommendations, recovery pathways, management interventions, performance optimization measures and executive-level reporting.

Role Purpose
The organization requires a QSRA / QCRA Risk Analyst to support quantitative schedule and cost risk analysis for major energy-sector capital projects. The role will focus on linking project risks to schedule and cost impacts, validating contingency, testing risk scenarios, and developing a defensible risk-adjusted position for governance decision-making.
The assignment requires independent Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis based on the integrated schedule and agreed assumptions, and independent Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis aligned to the revised Basis of Estimate and risk register. It also requires testing the impact of key risks on schedule duration and cost outcomes, validating contingency, and ensuring traceability between risks, assumptions, schedule impacts and cost allowances.

Core Responsibilities
• Review the project risk register for completeness, clarity, quality and suitability for quantitative analysis.
• Link risks to schedule activities, cost items, assumptions and decision points.
• Support development and maintenance of a Risk-to-Action Register linking key risks to mitigation actions and control measures.
• Undertake independent QSRA based on the integrated schedule and agreed assumptions.
• Undertake independent QCRA aligned to the revised Basis of Estimate and risk register.
• Test the impact of key risks on schedule duration and cost outcomes.
• Validate whether proposed contingency is appropriate and proportionate to identified risks.
• Ensure traceability between risks, assumptions, schedule impacts and cost allowances.
• Develop a clear and defensible contingency position based on quantified schedule and cost risk.
• Ensure schedule contingency is consistent with QSRA results and cost contingency logic.
• Assess whether risk assumptions and parameters are consistent across scope, cost and schedule, including contingency and float.
• Support risk-related root-cause analysis and recovery recommendations.
• Prepare governance-ready risk narratives and executive-level summaries.
Required Experience
• 8 12+ years’ experience in project risk, quantitative risk analysis, project controls, schedule risk analysis or cost risk analysis.
• Mandatory energy-sector experience, preferably power generation, transmission, distribution, utilities, renewable energy, industrial energy assets or major energy infrastructure.
• Demonstrable experience performing QSRA.
• Demonstrable experience performing QCRA.
• Strong understanding of Monte Carlo simulation.
• Experience linking risk registers to cost and schedule models.
• Experience developing defensible contingency recommendations.
• Experience testing risk scenarios and sensitivity drivers.
• Experience working with uncertain, incomplete or early-stage project information.
• Experience supporting project health checks, stage-gate reviews, assurance reviews or investment decisions.
• Experience working with planners, cost engineers, QS professionals and project managers.
Required Qualifications
• Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, Cost Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Construction Management or a related field.
• AACE DRMP, CCP, CEP, PSP or equivalent would be advantageous.
• PMI-RMP, PMP or equivalent project / risk certification would be beneficial.
• Training or certification in Monte Carlo simulation or quantitative risk tools would be advantageous.

Required Tools Experience
• Primavera Risk Analysis.

Energy Sector Requirement
Energy sector experience is mandatory. Candidates should have experience with risk analysis on power generation, transmission or distribution infrastructure, utility capital program, renewable energy, energy infrastructure upgrades, industrial energy projects, brownfield plant upgrades, outage-driven projects or EPC / EPCM energy projects.
This is important because the assignment includes major risks such as outage uncertainty, interface coordination, commissioning performance and precedent risk.
