Position: Specialist Hindu Architecture Painting Trades Worker
Location: Minto, NSW
Employment Type: Fixed-term Contract (Project Based)
Minto Shri Shiv Mandir is seeking an experienced Specialist Hindu Architecture Painting Trades Worker to assist in the completion of traditional Hindu temple works as part of the Maha Kumbhabhishekam Project. The successful applicant will possess specialised skills in applying traditional finishes, decorative artwork and heritage painting techniques used in Hindu temple architecture.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare temple surfaces including stone, plaster, timber and masonry for specialised painting and decorative finishing works.
• Apply primers, specialty coatings and protective finishes suitable for traditional Hindu temple construction materials.
• Paint interior and exterior temple structures in accordance with approved architectural drawings, colour schedules and traditional Hindu architectural principles.
• Execute intricate decorative painting, ornamental borders, motifs and culturally significant designs using traditional techniques.
• Restore and touch up painted temple surfaces to preserve the aesthetic and cultural integrity of the structure.
• Apply specialist finishes to architectural elements including ceilings, columns, beams, arches, sanctum areas and decorative mouldings.
• Coordinate painting activities with stonemasons, sculptors and other specialist artisans to ensure seamless completion of temple construction works.
• Select and mix paints, pigments and coatings to achieve specified colours and finishes while maintaining consistency throughout the project.
• Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards and traditional Hindu temple design requirements.
• Maintain painting equipment, tools and work areas while complying with workplace health and safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
• Demonstrated experience as a Painting Trades Worker, involving heritage, religious or architecturally significant buildings.
• Experience applying decorative finishes, ornamental painting and specialised coatings.
• Specialised skills in traditional "Panchavarna" (multi-colour) Hindu temple painting techniques, including the application of authentic multi-colour decorative finishes used in Hindu temple architecture.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and painting specifications.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary construction team.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
Desirable
• Experience working on Hindu temples or culturally significant heritage buildings.
• Knowledge of traditional Hindu architectural painting methods, decorative motifs and finishing techniques.
• Experience with restoration and preservation of religious or heritage structures.
