Gabba Brothers PTY LTD is a growing Australian scrap metal recycling company specialising in scrap metal recycling, auto and car recycling, and free scrap metal collection services. We purchase, process, and supply a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, including brass, aluminium, copper, stainless steel, cast iron, and other heavy metals. We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Retail Buyer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, negotiating purchases, and working in a fast-paced recycling environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in procurement, supplier management, merchandise planning, and inventory control, with the ability to support the company's purchasing and merchandising strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor sales performance, inventory levels, and market trends to support informed purchasing decisions and maintain adequate stock.
• Research industry developments, supplier information, and market conditions to identify purchasing opportunities and pricing trends.
• Negotiate purchase prices, supply agreements, and promotional arrangements with suppliers and customers to achieve commercial outcomes.
• Develop and implement pricing strategies and promotional initiatives to maximise sales and profitability.
• Collaborate with management to plan purchasing activities, inventory requirements, and long-term business growth strategies.
• Prepare purchasing plans based on seasonal demand, operational requirements, and budget objectives.
• Assess the quality, type, and value of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, including copper, aluminium, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, and other recyclable materials.
• Inspect, evaluate, and purchase scrap metal from individuals, businesses, industrial sites, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and industry partners to secure a consistent supply of quality recyclable materials.
• Coordinate with operations staff to ensure efficient collection, delivery, processing, and inventory management of purchased materials.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure all transactions comply with company policies and relevant environmental and safety regulations.
About Candidate:
• Relevant qualification in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar procurement or purchasing role.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing, supplier management, inventory planning, and merchandising.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and financial reports.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and inventory or procurement management systems.
