Vehicle Painter
Full-time Position
Proposed Salary: $80,000 + Superannuation
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Examining vehicle surfaces to determine the extent of paint damage and the preparation required prior to refinishing.
• Removing old paint, rust and minor surface imperfections using sanding, scraping, chemical treatments and power tools.
• Cleaning, masking and preparing vehicle panels and components for painting.
• Filling minor surface blemishes and applying primer coats to ensure a smooth and durable finish.
• Mixing and matching paint colours to manufacturer specifications using colour matching systems and paint formulas.
• Applying primer, base coat, clear coat and other protective finishes using spray-painting equipment.
• Blending newly applied paint with existing finishes to achieve an accurate colour match and seamless appearance.
• Baking, curing, polishing and buffing painted surfaces to produce a high-quality finish.
• Inspecting completed paintwork to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, company quality standards and customer expectations.
• Performing paint refinishing work on vehicles damaged by collisions, hailstorms and general wear and tear.
• Carrying out restoration and custom paintwork as required.
• Maintaining spray booths, spray guns, compressors and painting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Ordering, handling and storing paints, thinners and other hazardous materials in accordance with workplace health and safety and environmental requirements.
• Liaising with panel beaters and workshop staff to coordinate vehicle preparation and painting schedules.
• Providing customers with updates on the progress of painting and refinishing work when required.
• Travelling to various workshop locations throughout Australia to undertake vehicle painting and refinishing work as required.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Vehicle Painter.
• Demonstrated experience in automotive spray painting, colour matching and vehicle refinishing.
• Experience repairing and refinishing vehicles affected by hail damage, collision damage and restoration projects.
• Sound knowledge of automotive paint systems, surface preparation techniques and spray-painting equipment.
• Ability to consistently produce high-quality finishes in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
• Current and valid driver's licence with the ability to travel for vehicle collections and workshop requirements when necessary.
• This role requires working at various workshop locations throughout Australia for periods of approximately 4 6 months. The successful candidate must therefore be available to travel and work interstate for extended periods.
