Meyersdal (Alberton), Johannesburg: NEWLY ADMITTED ATTORNEY (CIVIL LITIGATION)
Minimum Requirements:
-Presentable and professional B-BBEE (black) male or female (As per firm’s B-BBEE requirements)
-Bachelor of Laws Degree completed and must have served 2 years of legal articles
-Recently/newly admitted as an Attorney a must
-Recent Civil Litigation experience a must
-Excellent drafting, communication and organisational skills
-Able to work independently while managing multiple matters
-Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle a must
-Currently residing in Johannesburg or Ekurhuleni area a must (within daily commuting distance from Alberton)
-Computer literate in MS Office, Caselines and Court Online
-Stable employment record and contactable employment references a must
-To start as soon as possible
Duties:
-Civil Litigation Attorney duties for law firm, managing civil litigation portfolio under supervision of firm’s Director
-Draft pleadings, notices, affidavits, opinions, legal correspondence, and settlement agreements.
-Institute and defend legal proceedings in both High Court & Magistrates’ Courts
-Attend to court appearances, case management meetings, pre-trial conferences and consultations with clients and counsel.
-Prepare trial bundles, court files and briefing notes for counsel.
-Conduct legal research and provide written legal opinions where required.
-Draft and prepare applications, motions, and interlocutory proceedings.
-Liaise professionally with clients, advocates, correspondents, sheriffs and opposing attorneys.
-Ensure compliance with court rules, practice directives, and litigation timelines.
-Maintain accurate physical files and update clients on progress of matters
-Contribute to firm's commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
Salary: R 20 000.00 R 25 000.00 gross maximum (depending on Civil Litigation experience)
