Full Time Mechanical Engineering Technician
SALARY RANGE:
$90,000 $97,000 per annum (base salary) + Superannuation
SUMMARY
Lee's Plumbing and Gas Services Pty Ltd is a South Australian-owned company specialising in residential, commercial and industrial plumbing, gas fitting, hot water systems, drainage infrastructure, leak detection, and mechanical service installations. The company provides end-to-end solutions including system design support, equipment selection, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and technical troubleshooting of plumbing, gas and associated mechanical systems. Our services extend to commercial buildings, multi-unit developments, industrial facilities and infrastructure projects throughout South Australia.
As the business continues to expand its involvement in larger and more technically complex projects, there is an increasing need for specialised technical expertise to support system performance analysis, equipment testing, engineering documentation, quality assurance and project delivery.
Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the planning, installation, maintenance, testing, and optimisation of plumbing, gas, hot water, and associated mechanical systems, including:
• Assisting in the design, installation and commissioning of plumbing, gas and mechanical service systems for residential and commercial projects.
• Conducting technical inspections, performance testing and diagnostic assessments of plumbing, gas and hot water systems to identify faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitoring system performance and assisting with the implementation of improvements to enhance operational efficiency, safety and reliability.
• Preparing technical drawings, specifications, maintenance schedules and engineering documentation relating to plumbing and gas installations.
• Assisting in the selection, testing and evaluation of mechanical equipment, components, valves, pumps, pipework and related infrastructure.
• Coordinating maintenance activities and supporting plumbers and gas fitters during installation, repair and upgrade projects.
• Analysing operational data and preparing technical reports regarding system performance, equipment reliability and compliance requirements.
• Ensuring all works comply with relevant Australian Standards, safety regulations, building codes and industry best practices.
• Assisting with project planning, cost estimation, procurement of materials and quality assurance processes.
• Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and regulatory authorities regarding technical and operational matters.
Essential Requirements
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent overseas qualification.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant full-time experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a closely related engineering technical role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing infrastructure, gas systems, hot water systems, pumps, pressure systems, and associated maintenance processes.
• Experience in mechanical and hydraulic system testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, performance monitoring, and preventative maintenance planning.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, operating manuals, and compliance documentation.
• Experience preparing technical reports, maintenance records, inspection reports, and engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client and project sites as required.
• Demonstrated English communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and liaise effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers and regulatory authorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team environment.
Desirable Requirements
• Experience within the plumbing, gas, utilities, construction, infrastructure, mechanical services, or building services industries.
• Experience with gas reticulation systems, hot water plants, pumps, pressure systems, and associated mechanical equipment.
• Experience supporting commercial or industrial installation, maintenance, commissioning, and upgrade projects.
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes, technical inspections, testing procedures, and system performance evaluation.
