We are seeking an experienced Meat Quality Assurance Officer to join our team at our Oakey facility. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining our high standards of food safety, product quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of QA systems within the food industry, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with the Company's Quality Management System, export certification requirements, food safety programs, and all relevant regulatory standards applicable to meat processing operations.
• Conduct inspections of livestock, meat products, processing operations, storage facilities and production areas to identify product quality, hygiene, animal welfare, contamination or compliance issues.
• Monitor and audit quality assurance procedures throughout slaughter, processing, grading, packing, storage and dispatch activities to ensure compliance with customer, industry and export market requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee the sampling, testing and assessment of meat products to verify compliance with quality, food safety, grading and product specification standards.
• Investigate product quality defects, contamination events, food safety incidents and non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimise risk.
• Monitor hygiene and sanitation practices across processing and packing facilities to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, export requirements and company standards.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to production personnel regarding product quality, grading standards, food safety requirements, quality procedures and regulatory compliance obligations.
• Liaise with government authorities, auditors and customers regarding quality assurance, export certification, product compliance and audit outcomes.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, verify corrective actions, and monitor the effectiveness of quality assurance and continuous improvement programs.
• Identify and assess potential biosecurity, contamination and product integrity risks throughout the production process and implement measures to protect product quality and maintain export market compliance.
Skills & Experience:
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field, plus at least 1 year of relevant work experience; OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the formal qualification.
• Solid experience in QA systems and technical roles within the meat or food industry.
• Strong understanding of customer audit processes and regulatory compliance.
• Skilled in developing and maintaining quality management systems with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, proactive, team-oriented, and tech-savvy team member.
