Job Description
GT Builders is a well-established family-owned construction company founded in Darwin, Northern Territory in 2000. With over 50 years of combined industry experience, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction and development projects across both urban and remote areas with a wide range of construction services.
Due to ongoing business growth, GT Builders is currently seeking to urgently recruit a skilled Welder to support increasing operational demands and upcoming projects in NT.
Key Duties:
• Reviewing construction drawings, fabrication details, and project specifications to identify welding and metalwork requirements for GT Builders projects.
• Preparing metal materials and work surfaces prior to fabrication and welding activities on construction sites.
• Cutting steel and metal components using hand tools, grinders, and metal cutting equipment according to project measurements and specifications.
• Shaping, positioning, and fitting metal sections, pipes, and structural components for installation and fabrication works.
• Measuring and aligning metal parts using appropriate tools to ensure accurate assembly and installation.
• Performing welding, joining, and fabrication works on structural steel, metal frames, and other construction components using appropriate welding techniques.
• Inspecting completed welds and fabricated structures to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with project requirements.
• Carrying out finishing works such as grinding, smoothing, and cleaning welded surfaces to achieve safe and professional finishes.
• Assisting with repair, modification, and maintenance of metal structures and fabricated components across residential and commercial construction projects.
Requirements:
• Relevant AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV plus at least 1 year of relevant full-time experience. Alternatively, at least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Experience with MIG, TIG & Stick welding
• Current welding tickets/certifications preferred
• Ability to work unsupervised, safely and efficiently
General Benefits:
• Annual base salary from $80,000 to $90,000 plus super
