Job Overview
The Motor Mechanic is responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs of motor vehicles to ensure safe operation and optimum performance. The role involves identifying mechanical and electrical faults, undertaking repairs and routine maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workplace safety requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine servicing and maintenance of motor vehicles including oil changes, filter replacements and general inspections.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults affecting vehicle performance and safety.
• Inspect, repair and replace components including engines, brakes, suspension systems, steering components, batteries and related parts.
• Carry out engine tuning, testing and adjustments where required.
• Use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment to identify faults and determine suitable repair methods.
• Conduct inspections of vehicle systems including engine, transmission, braking, suspension and electrical systems.
• Test completed repairs to ensure functionality and compliance with manufacturer standards.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean workshop environment.
• Assist with workshop operations and contribute to efficient completion of repair and maintenance work.
Requirements
• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification).
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Sound knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
