About the Role:
Australian Management and Education Services Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Accountant to join our professional team in Sydney CBD.

This role is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reporting, and oversight of day-to-day accounting transactions. Reporting to the managing director, this role is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely financial information and reports ensuring that all statutory and regulatory reporting obligations are adequately met. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and internal team to support financial operations, maintain compliance standards, and ensure all financial tasks and client deliverables are completed within required timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly management reports, budgets, and financial forecasts
• Prepare financial statements and supporting documentation
• Monitor and analyse operating costs, expenditure, and company income
• Prepare and lodge BAS and tax returns
• Ensures internal control systems are maintained and complied by the staff including receivables, payables, working hours, records management etc
• Evaluate bank reconciliation and determine any variances to be discussed with the management
• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting systems
• Assist with compliance, audits, and statutory reporting requirements
• Support the Director and team to ensure client work is delivered efficiently and within allocated deadlines
• Performs other tasks assigned by the director from time to time.

Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you possess:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a general accounting role
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements
• Experience using accounting software including QuickBooks, Reckon, MYOB, Xero, and/or HandiTax
• Excellent computer, analytical, and organisational skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
