Position Title: Substitute Educational Aide
Location: Reading Community City Schools / Reading, OH
Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call
Pay Rate: $14.00/Hour
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, caring, and flexible Substitute Educational Aides to support classrooms when regular staff members are unavailable. This role is essential in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintaining a positive school environment, and ensuring continuity of support across both general and special education settings.
Key Responsibilities
Support classroom instruction by assisting teachers with lessons, activities, and student supervision
Provide individualized or small-group academic and behavioral support, including assistance for students with special needs
Carry out accommodations and modifications as directed by certified staff or intervention specialists
Help students with daily routines such as organization, transitions, and classroom participation
Supervise students across school settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and dismissal areas
Promote a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment
Follow instructional plans, behavior support plans, and school safety procedures
Maintain communication with teachers, administrators, and support staff
Document observations and report student concerns or incidents when required
Required Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid Ohio educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)
Successful completion of criminal background screening
Ability to interact with students in a patient, professional, and supportive manner
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow directions and adjust to different classroom environments
Physical capability to assist students when needed (including mobility or classroom support tasks)
Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with children in schools, childcare, or similar environments
Experience supporting students with disabilities
Training in behavior management, de-escalation, or student support strategies
