Position Title: Substitute Educational Aide
Location: Bio-Med Science Academy / Rootstown, OH
Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call
Pay Rate: $11.00/Hour
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, supportive, and flexible Substitute Educational Aides to assist classrooms when regular staff are unavailable. This role contributes to a positive and structured learning environment by helping students stay engaged, supporting instructional activities, and reinforcing classroom expectations across general and special education settings.
Key Responsibilities
Assist teachers with instructional support and classroom activities
Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students, including those with specialized learning needs
Implement accommodations and modifications under the direction of certified staff
Help students with organization, transitions, and classroom participation
Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school areas
Encourage positive behavior and help maintain a safe, respectful environment
Follow lesson plans, behavior plans, and school safety procedures
Communicate effectively with teachers and school staff
Record observations or report incidents as required
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Ohio educational aide permit or applicable licensure
Clean criminal background check
Ability to work with children in a calm, patient, and professional manner
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow directions and adapt to various classroom settings
Physical ability to assist students when needed
Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with children in school or childcare settings
Prior support of students with disabilities
Training in behavior support or de-escalation strategies
