Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment / Full-Time or Part-Time
Pay Rate: Starting at $14.00/Hour
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dedicated and skilled Long-Term Instructional Assistants to provide consistent support to students and staff throughout an extended assignment. This role plays a vital part in promoting student success by assisting with instruction, supporting individualized learning needs, and helping maintain a positive, structured classroom environment. The long-term nature of this position allows the aide to build meaningful relationships, understand classroom routines, and contribute to ongoing academic and behavioral goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the classroom teacher in implementing the educational program for students with disabilities in accordance with their IEP
Assist the classroom teacher in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to the needs of individual students
Maintain clear and complete communication with teacher of record to ensure effective implementation of the student's educational plan
Assist teacher with documentation requirements including collecting data to monitor student progress
Assist students in completing tasks related to the educational program
Assist classroom teacher with classroom management
Assist students with behavior management skills
Assist with crisis intervention when needed
Assist teacher and students with tasks related to daily activities (e.g. lunch and/or recess duty, helping load and unload buses
Supervise students during short-term absences of teacher from the classroom or in non-classroom settings (e.g. restrooms, cafeterias, corridors)
Assist teacher with routine clerical tasks and maintenance of classroom
Maintain accurate and complete student records; prepare and submit all required reports on time
Assist in lifting and positioning students, diapering, changing clothes, feeding, G-tube feeding, and other care giving activities as needed
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations)
Clean criminal background checks
Ability to follow teacher direction, adapt to student needs, and remain patient and calm
Flexibility, empathy, and a commitment to student growth
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Physical ability to support students who may require lifting, mobility assistance, or crisis intervention
Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Additional requirements for Preschool classrooms
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher educational experience
Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities
Familiarity with intervention strategies, behavior supports, or small-group instruction
Certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
Experience with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
