Job Description
About Us
Woodward Foods Australia has been proudly producing and distributing top-quality beef and lamb nationwide since 1888. We are a premier meat processor, highly committed to sustainability and supplying our customers with premium meat from pure Australian lands. While our main abattoir and core operations are based in Swan Hill, we depend on our bustling distribution depots to bring exceptional products to tables across the country.
We are currently seeking a dedicated, full-time Skilled Meat Worker to permanently join the boning room team at our Sydney depot in Strathfield South, NSW 2136.
As a key member of our processing floor, your daily work will be dynamic and hands-on. You will help us uphold our high production standards by handling a variety of responsibilities. This involves:
-Using your knife skills to safely and skillfully separate meat, fat, and tissue from the bone.
-Portioning sides and quarters of meat into standard, market-ready cuts like rumps, flanks, and shoulders while making sure to trim away internal fat, bruises, and clots so the meat is perfect for packing.
-Making sure everything meets our strict hygiene standards by washing, scraping, and perfectly trimming meat to remove any blood or foreign material.
-Operating the switching controls to smoothly direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from the supply rails right onto the boning tables.
-Safely operating processing machinery, including bandsaws, to achieve precise cuts.
What You’ll Bring
We are searching for a reliable individual who takes pride in their work and understands the fast pace of an active boning room. To hit the ground running, you must have at least one year of hands-on experience as a boner, slicer, or skilled meat worker in a similar processing environment.
You must be comfortable in a highly physical, fast-paced setting with a steady hand for processing tools and heavy machinery including demonstrated experience operating a bandsaw safely. A sharp eye for detail is crucial, as you will ensure our cuts maintain the premium quality Woodward Foods is famous for.
Above all, you need to be a collaborative team player with a proactive attitude toward workplace health and safety. A firm understanding of strict hygiene protocols, quality control, and hazard awareness is essential for success in this position.
