Full Time Registered Nurse
SALARY RANGE $90,000 - $110,000

Position Summary
The Registered Nurse for delivering and directing holistic nursing care to consumers of Yura Yungi
Menkawum Ngurra Elders Residence, whist providing clinical oversight and supervision for all other clinical and domestic staff.

The Registered Nurse works closely with the Clinical & Quality Manager to ensure that the care provided meets relevant industry standards and adheres to Australian healthcare legislation and the aged care standards.

The Registered Nurse will contribute to a professional and compatible work environment by providing a helpful, efficient, and courteous service to residents, family members, staff and volunteers that reflects the positive corporate image of Menkawum Ngurra.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Leading and actively participating as a member of the multi-disciplinary care team.
• Contribute to the fostering and promotion of a climate that encourages staff growth, development, positive morale, and team cohesiveness.
• Role model the provision of holistic care to residents.
• Delivery of direct nursing care and individual care management to individual consumers.
• Ensuring to maintain all clinical processes including admissions, care planning and review, referrals and carrying out of doctors’, Allied Health and other services’ recommendations.
• Managing PCAs and other members of the team in providing safe and high-quality care to consumers.
• Oversight and prompt action on clinical and personal care needs of consumers.
• Maintaining a physical and psychosocial environment that promotes safety, security, and optimal health.
• Ensuring that the care processes and outcomes are accurately documented in accordance with procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement of the home.
• Maintain current knowledge and compliance with contemporary nursing issues in aged care and general healthcare practices.
• Ensure confidentiality of consumers, staff, and business information.
• Maintain the rights and dignity of consumers and staff.
• Effective management of human, building, equipment, and financial resources within the nursing department.
• Understanding of implications and adherence to Equal Opportunities and Disability Discrimination legislation to ensure a workplace free from discrimination.

Selection Criteria

Essential:
• Bachelor Of Nursing
• Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
• Demonstrated competence in nursing practice.
• Experience in the provision of care services to the aged and to Aboriginal people.
• Experience in the development and implementation of care plans
• Ability to work with frail older people and younger people with a disability.
• Able to work independently as well as being an effective member of the team.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff to achieve strategic goals.
• Proven time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner.
• Good physical fitness and ability to maintain manual handling work including lifting to 5kgs on a frequent basis.
• Current holder of a C’ class license and have the use of a roadworthy vehicle.
• Current first aid/Basic Life Support certificate
• Annual flu vaccination
• Satisfactory Police Clearance.

Desirable
• Relevant experience and/or post registration qualification(s) gerontic nursing or related
specialty areas.
• Experience in the provision of care to the Aboriginal aged.
• Sound Computer skills.
