Bundy’s Bar & Bites is a well-established restaurant located in Warrnambool, offering a diverse menu featuring Sri Lankan and Australian cuisine. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu requirements • Develop and update menus, including seasonal and specialty items
• Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency at all times • Supervise and train kitchen staff
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety
• Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and liaise with suppliers • Manage kitchen operations efficiently during service periods
• Ensure compliance with Australian food safety standards
• Prepare and present authentic Sri Lankan dishes using traditional cooking methods and spice blends
• Contribute to menu development, including Sri Lankan specialty items
Skills & Experience Required
• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery / Hospitality (Diploma level or higher preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as a Chef
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan and/or Australian cuisine
• Proven ability to independently manage kitchen operations, including menu planning and staff supervision '
• Experience in Sri Lankan cuisine (highly desirable), including preparation of traditional dishes such as curries, hoppers, kottu roti, sambals, and spice-based marinades
• Knowledge of balancing spices and flavour profiles typical to South Asian cuisine • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
