Farm Operative (General & Livestock)
We are working exclusively with a well-established, family run and reputable farm / agricultural production business in Bickerstaffe who are seeking a skilled, reliable Livestock Farm Operative for hands-on work with beef cattle, barley, and potatoes.
This 12-week temp role offers a strong shot at permanent employment if you deliver solid performance and attendance from day one.
Pay & hours:
• 14 16 per hour (DOE)
• Monday Friday, 8am 5pm + occasional busy-period Saturdays
• 45 hours/week average
• 2 x 15-minute (paid) breaks, 1 x 30-minute lunch (unpaid)
What the role involves:
• Run tractors, JCB Loadalls, and loaders (on-site refresher training included).
• Handle full cattle cycle: milk-machine feeding, straw bedding, rearing to cull prep.
• Tackle general farm tasks with barley, potatoes, and crops.
• Conduct regular welfare checks, spot health issues early, and report to site management.
• Keep yards clean (scraping, TB testing support where needed), monitor grass / forage quality.
• Log basic animal health/movements for smooth operations.
• General reasonable farm related duties as / when deemed necessary.
Requirements:
• Previous farm work experience is essential, particularly with cattle and machinery.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
• Good work ethic, punctuality, and reliability are key for this temp-to-perm opportunity.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors and in varying conditions.
