Field Based Engineer
Location: Manchester, England, United Kingdom (Field-Based / On-site)
Salary: 30,000 40,000 per annum

Overview
We are hiring a Field Based Engineer to support NHS and healthcare providers across Manchester and surrounding regions.
This is a mobile role where you will travel from home to client sites including hospitals, care homes, and specialist schools. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of medical and mobility equipment.
The role offers strong autonomy, daily variety, and the opportunity to directly support critical healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Service, repair, and maintain medical and mobility equipment (e.g. hoists, hospital beds, baths, patient couches, dental chairs, wheelchairs)
• Conduct LOLER inspections and ensure full compliance with lifting equipment regulations
• Diagnose faults and carry out on-site repairs, including fitting replacement parts
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent service requests in a timely manner
• Manage your own schedule, including route planning and site visits
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate updates to the office
• Ensure all work meets healthcare compliance standards and safety regulations
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
• Proven experience in a field-based service or maintenance engineering role
• Mechanical or electrical engineering background (qualification preferred)
• Experience working on medical equipment, mobility equipment, or similar machinery
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Knowledge of LOLER regulations (desirable)

Additional Information
• Company Vehicle: Van provided for business use
• Tools: Engineers are expected to supply their own standard hand tools. All specialised equipment (e.g. battery testers, PAT testers, diagnostic devices, tablets for job management, etc.) is provided by the company
• Location Requirement: Candidates must be based in or near Manchester
