The role
Our client is seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic to join their workshop team. In this role, you will play a key part in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles within a busy dealership environment. You will utilise modern diagnostic tools, follow manufacturer standards, collaborate with other technicians and service advisors, and contribute to maintaining the high-quality reputation of Hervey Bay Auto Group.
Key responsibilities include:
• Conducting routine inspections and diagnostics across a variety of vehicle makes
• Performing mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
• Using diagnostic tools to identify complex faults and determine effective solutions
• Adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices to ensure high-quality service delivery
• Maintaining accurate records of repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities
• Keeping up to date with evolving automotive technologies and service techniques
• Communicating with customers where required to explain repairs and maintenance recommendations
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment
• Working collaboratively with service advisors, parts interpreters, and fellow technicians to ensure efficient workflow
• Participating in ongoing technical training and development
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices or junior technicians when required
• Assisting manufacturers with technical diagnostic challenges when necessary
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification)
• At least three years of post-trade experience as a motor mechanic or automotive technician
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively
• Experience using diagnostic tools and diagnosing faults in engines and electrical systems (preferred but not essential)
• Experience working with dealership brands or multiple vehicle manufacturers is advantageous
• A proactive and professional attitude with strong problem-solving abilities
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
