Benjaporn Dining Pty Ltd operates two established Asian restaurants in Gulgong:
• Asian Kitchen Gulgong (located inside Gulgong RSL Club)
• Thai To You Gulgong
Both venues specialise in authentic and modern Asian cuisine, including Thai curries, stir-fries, wok
based dishes, noodle dishes, rice specialties, and selected Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese recipes
and some popular Australian specials.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking:
• One Full-Time Chef
POSITION
Location: Asian Kitchen Gulgong (Gulgong RSL Club)
Salary: $78,000 $80,000 per annum + superannuation
Employment Type: Full-Time (38+ hours per week)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, develop and rotate menus featuring Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian and Chinese cuisine
• Create and refine recipes including curries, stir-fries, wok dishes, noodle dishes, soups and
rice specialties
• Prepare and cook complex Asian dishes using traditional techniques such as wok cooking,
stir-frying, deep-frying and sauce preparation
• Balance flavours including sweet, sour, salty and spicy profiles consistent with authentic
Asian cuisine
• Prepare fresh curry pastes, sauces, marinades and spice blends in-house
• Manage stock levels for specialised Asian ingredients (herbs, spices, sauces, seafood and
meats)
• Estimate food and labour costs and manage kitchen ordering
• Oversee food preparation to ensure consistency, quality and presentation
• Supervise and train cooks and kitchen staff in Asian cooking techniques
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS regulations
• Maintain portion control and minimise food wastage
• Coordinate kitchen operations during busy lunch and dinner services
Skills and Experience Required
• Relevant commercial cookery qualification (minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
and Kitchen Management or higher preferred)
• Minimum 2 3 years’ work experience in a busy restaurant
• Experience cooking Thai and related Asian cuisines is highly desirable.
• Experience cooking popular Aussie dishes is also required
• Ability to perform high-volume wok cooking in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of Asian herbs, spices and traditional cooking techniques
• Strong time management and teamwork skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English is a must (functional English)
• Willingness to live and work in regional NSW
