Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this role is to drive the company's profitability and growth through setting and driving sound commercial principles and strategies across the global business such as pricing, new business tenders, inorganic growth opportunities, and driving commercial optimisation across all geographies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Growth and Profitability
- Develop and implement commercial principles and strategies to maximise sustainable margins and business growth globally, and regionally.
- Develop, implement and maintain pricing and commercial models for products, services and customers pricing.
- Effective monitoring of ongoing commercial contracts for contract adherence to commercial terms and margin management.
- Internal stakeholder management with respect to Manufacturing and Supply chain commercials.
- Managing key supplier relationships/commercials where relevant.
New Business Tenders and Contracts
- Overseeing new business tender process and contract renewals for key customers, including commercial models, commercial negotiations through
to contract negotiation and finalisation.
- Manage and direct commercial engagement with key customers.
- Implements and monitors governance framework for general tenders, quotations and pricing.
- Perform research and grow mining market share and drive new business development.
Commercial Optimisation
• Assist the business across sites, regions and geographies to improve operating profitability.
- Provision of relevant management reporting, analytics and insights.
- Analyse and interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights to drive business decisions.
- Identify and drive commercial optimisation opportunities.
Commercial Oversight of Joint Ventures
- Oversight and governance over joint venture commercial contract obligations.
- Ensuring the company’s commercial interests are protected.
- Monitoring business case adherence.
Merge & Acquisitions Activities
- Accountable for commercial aspects of M&A.
- Commercial models.
- Commercial due diligences.
People Management
- Manage and lead the commercial team.
- Interface to with finance and commercial individuals across geographies.
- Develop and grow individual team members.
Educational Qualifications:
- Relevant Finance/Economics degree, or equivalent.
- Masters Degree is preferred.
- CA (SA)
Knowledge and Experience:
- At least 10 years’ experience in Commercial/Finance.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Senior Financial Role (Advantageous).
- 5 years’ experience is Supply Chain.
- At least 5 years experience working in a mining environment.
- Previous experience as an executive will serve as a strong recommendation.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts related to project evaluation, financial forecasting, return on investment, cash flow analysis, and cost accounting, as well as financial measurement.
