Job Description

Val Construction Ltd. is seeking a Roofer. This is a full-time, year-round position starting as soon as possible. The position is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The wage is $38.00 - $40.00 per hour (depending on experience), paid semi-weekly. On-call work is required during the summer season.

You will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Install, repair, and replace roofing systems including asphalt shingles, metal roofing, and waterproof membranes on residential and commercial buildings.
- Remove existing roofing materials and prepare roof surfaces by inspecting structures, measuring areas, and ensuring proper installation conditions.
- Install underlayment, flashing, vents, drip edges, and other components to ensure roofs are weatherproof and watertight.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment to complete roofing tasks efficiently and safely.
- Read and follow drawings, specifications, and Alberta building codes to ensure compliance and quality workmanship.
- Secure roofing materials properly to withstand strong winds, heavy snow loads, and extreme mountain weather conditions.
- Work as part of a construction team and communicate with supervisors regarding job progress, materials, and site conditions.
- Perform winter roofing duties, including removing snow and ice from roofs before inspections, repairs, or installations.
- Repair roof damage caused by snow accumulation, ice dams, freezing temperatures, and winter storms.
- Perform roofing work in cold weather conditions while following winter safety procedures and using appropriate cold-weather protective gear.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a roofer, or a combination of relevant education and practical work experience in roofing.
- Completion of high school is required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold winter temperatures.
- Knowledge of roofing tools, materials, and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, drawings, and safety guidelines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
