About the role
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. The role is responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking food in accordance with established recipes and service standards, while maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Inspect foodstuffs to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for preparation
• Prepare and cook menu items using ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
• Regulate cooking temperatures to ensure food is cooked safely and consistently
• Season food during preparation and cooking to achieve required flavour and quality
• Portion and plate dishes accurately, including adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes
• Store ingredients and prepared food in temperature controlled facilities, following stock rotation procedures
• Prepare food for special dietary requirements, including allergy and dietary requests
• Assist with basic menu planning and estimating food requirements as directed
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures at all times
• Assist with training and guidance of kitchenhands or junior staff when required
• Coordinate with front of house staff to ensure timely and accurate service
Skills and experience required
• AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with relevant on the job training, or equivalent qualification
• Alternatively, at least three years of relevant full time commercial cooking experience
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and temperature control requirements
• Ability to work efficiently under direction and manage multiple tasks during service
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
