At its Townsville facility, RGM runs a fully equipped Daimler Trucks service centre, specialising in the diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, and Freightliner trucks. The business services clients across the transport, mining, and commercial sectors and is recognised for its technical capability and high standards of workmanship.



About the Role

Yakr Pty Ltd is currently recruiting a Diagnostic Technician on behalf of RGM Maintenance in Townsville. This full-time role is classified under ANZSCO 321212 Diesel Motor Mechanic and is suited to an experienced technician with advanced diagnostic skills in heavy diesel vehicles, particularly within the Daimler product range.



Key Responsibilities

In line with the ANZSCO 321212 occupational classification, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing mechanical and electronic faults in diesel engines, transmissions, steering, braking, and suspension systems
- Dismantling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling heavy vehicle components
- Replacing worn or faulty parts and ensuring all systems meet manufacturer specifications
- Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Using computerised diagnostic tools to identify fault codes and performance issues
- Interpreting technical data and completing repair documentation accurately
- Adhering to workplace health and safety, environmental, and roadworthiness standards
- Attending breakdowns and performing field service work when required



Candidate Requirements
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in diesel vehicle diagnostics and repair
- Demonstrated experience working on Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks (essential)
- Strong fault-finding capability using scan tools and diagnostic software
- HR or MR driver’s licence (preferred)
- Sound knowledge of compliance obligations and workshop safety procedures
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality workmanship
