About the Role
Yakr Pty Ltd is currently recruiting a Diagnostic Technician on behalf of RGM Maintenance in Mackay. This full-time role is classified under ANZSCO 321212 Diesel Motor Mechanic and is suited to experienced professionals with strong diagnostic capability in heavy diesel vehicles, particularly across the Daimler product range.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults in diesel engines, transmissions, steering, braking, and suspension systems
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble heavy vehicle mechanical components
• Replace worn or defective parts and ensure systems operate in accordance with manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Use computerised diagnostic equipment to assess fault codes and performance issues
• Interpret technical data and complete repair and service documentation accurately
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental standards, and roadworthiness regulations
• Attend breakdowns and perform field service work as required
Candidate Requirements
• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in diesel vehicle diagnostics and repair
• Proven experience working on Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks (essential)
• Strong fault-finding capability using scan tools and diagnostic software
• HR or MR driver’s licence (preferred)
• Sound understanding of compliance obligations and workshop safety protocols
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail and reliability in delivering quality outcomes
