The Role:

As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will take a leading role in driving the strategic, technical, and operational performance of the mining operations. This position is ideal for a high-level professional who is ready to influence key decisions, mentor engineering teams, and support the Mining Manager in planning, design, and optimisation across multiple project phases.
You will play a crucial part in shaping sustainable mining solutions, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring all practices meet safety, statutory, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead and oversee complex drill and blast design, including stoping, vertical development, and service hole planning for reticulation, pumping, probing, and drainage.
-Develop and deliver detailed short, medium, and long-term mine plans and schedules, including Life of Mine (LOM) strategies.
-Provide senior-level technical oversight and act as a key interface between Technical Services, Operations, and Management.
-Mentor, guide, and support junior and intermediate Mining Engineers in planning, design, optimisation, and daily operational activities.
-Conduct high-level optimisation studies, production forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mine performance.
-Ensure compliance with all site policies, mining legislation, and statutory obligations.
-Lead incident investigations, hazard analyses, and technical risk assessments.
-Collaborate closely with the Mining Manager on operational strategy, mine design improvements, and regulatory compliance.

About You:

-Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
-Significant experience in underground mining, including advanced expertise in Drill & Blast, mine planning, ventilation, and technical services.
-Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally in a Senior or Technical Specialist capacity.
-High proficiency in Deswik software for mine design, scheduling, and optimisation.
-Proven ability to lead projects, mentor engineering staff, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
-Strong analytical skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
-Current C’ Class Driver’s Licence preferred.
