Civil Engineering Draftsperson Full Time
SALARY $85,000 + Superannuation per year
DUTIES
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, sketches, plans and drafting models for civil structures and construction works using AutoCAD and other drafting tools.
• Assist in the development of design layouts for drainage, earthworks, pavements, retaining structures, utilities and site development projects.
• Compile charts, tabulations and material schedules to support engineering design and construction planning.
• Interpret engineering instructions, design briefs and site requirements to produce accurate technical documentation.
• Conduct data collection, measurements and field-based assessments to support design validation and project planning.
• Perform basic computations and analysis required for preparing engineering drawings and verifying compliance with design parameters.
• Coordinate with site teams to ensure drawings reflect current site conditions, engineering standards and construction specifications.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantities, and material take-offs for civil works.
• Support site engineers in monitoring construction progress, identifying discrepancies between drawings and actual work, and updating plans accordingly.
• Participate in inspections, quality checks and site-based reporting, ensuring drafted works align with safety, regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Maintain accurate document control, including drawing revisions, version updates and engineering records.
• Assist in organising and supervising minor maintenance, repair and corrective work documentation related to civil engineering activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Drafting, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent).
• Previous experience (minimum 1 year) in civil drafting, site engineering, or supporting engineering documentation within construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience working in construction site environments, assisting engineers, supervisors or foremen in technical coordination.
• Demonstrated capability in preparing technical drawings, plans, sketches, and material schedules for civil engineering works.
• Proficiency in engineering design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, MS Project, Primavera, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in field measurements, data collection, inspections or reporting related to civil or structural works.
• Strong understanding of engineering specifications, construction methodology, regulatory requirements and onsite workflow.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively with engineers, site teams and project managers
