About the Company
Mark Eliott Glass is a contemporary glass art and teaching studio based in Marrickville, Sydney. The studio produces free-form, sculptural and functional glass artworks for exhibitions, commissions, collaborative projects, and educational programs. The studio is led by award-winning Australian artist Mark Eliott, who has over 45 years of experience in glass blowing and 25 years of experience teaching glass techniques. The studio also delivers workshops, public demonstrations and community engagement activities.

About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Glass Blower to join our studio. The position involves producing free-form and sculptural blown glass artworks, assisting with studio operations, and supporting workshops and demonstrations. The successful applicant will work closely with the studio director in the creation of glass artworks for exhibitions and commissions.

Key Responsibilities
• Gather and inflate molten glass using blowpipes to form free-blown and mould-blown pieces
• Rotate, shape and manipulate molten glass to maintain structure, density, and colour control
• Reheat, stretch, draw, shear and join glass components during the forming process
• Produce sculptural, artistic or functional glass pieces in accordance with design sketches or templates
• Operate kilns, annealing equipment and cold-working machinery (cutting, grinding, polishing)
• Assist in workshops, demonstrations and educational sessions as required
• Maintain studio equipment including torches, blowpipes, kilns, tools and ventilation systems
• Follow safe studio practices and contribute to sustainable use of glass and materials

Skills & Experience Required
• Demonstrated experience in glass blowing, including inflating, shaping and forming molten glass
• Experience with flame-working, sculptural elements, joining components and detailed hot-glass manipulation
• Ability to operate kilns, annealing schedules and cold-working tools
• Ability to interpret sketches and create pieces to required dimensions
• Strong understanding of studio safety procedures
• Experience supporting workshops or demonstrations is desirable but not essential

Qualifications
Min AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or at least three years of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
Min 1 year F/T work experience
