Full Time Senior Accountant
Salary $77,000 + SUPERANNUATION
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organisation. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing accounting records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Senior Accountant will support the Head of Accounting by providing accurate financial information, analysing financial performance, and contributing to strategic financial planning.
DUTIES
Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
Accounting Operations
• Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.
• Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and ensure all required documentation is provided.
Compliance and Controls
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and standards and ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
• Conduct periodic reviews of financial processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure best practices are followed.
Support and Coordination
• Provide support to the Head of Accounting in financial planning and analysis and assist with strategic financial initiatives.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for business decisions.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff and oversee their work as needed.
Productivity Management
• Manage workload effectively to ensure timely completion of accounting tasks and adherence to deadlines.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving financial processes and practices.
• Ensure that action points from meetings are addressed and completed within deadlines.
Learning & Development
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
• Proactively seek to resolve issues and improve financial processes with support from the Head of Accounting and colleagues.
• Engage in continuous learning to stay current with industry trends and enhance accounting skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in accounting or financial management, with a proven track record in a senior accounting role.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports and managing accounting operations.
• Relevant qualifications in accounting (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and handle complex financial issues professionally.
• Reliable, professional, and consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity.
• Proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in financial processes.
