The Employer operates a popular restaurant in Daylesford, serving delicious breakfast and lunch options in a vibrant café-style setting. They are seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team and help deliver exceptional meals that exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect and select ingredients to ensure freshness, quality, and portion accuracy before food preparation.
• Operate and monitor cooking equipment, adjusting heat levels and timing to achieve the best cooking results.
• Prepare and present a range of menu items in accordance with established recipes and service standards.
• Season, combine, and cook ingredients with attention to consistency, flavour, and presentation.
• Assemble and garnish dishes attractively before serving to guests.
• Ensure proper storage and labelling of food items to maintain hygiene and temperature control.
• Adapt recipes or meal preparation to accommodate customer preferences and dietary needs.
• Assist with planning daily menus and managing ingredient quantities to reduce waste and maintain stock levels.
• Support the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements
• Previous experience working as a Cook in a busy restaurant, café, or similar commercial kitchen.
• Practical knowledge of modern cooking methods, food hygiene, and safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple orders efficiently while maintaining quality and presentation.
• Positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
Minimum 1-year proven experience in a commercial kitchen.
