Experience with diverse network environments and context switching.
Network design and deployment experience, in any vertical. These skills are valuable for supporting customer challenges in real- world environments where practical experience is often elevated beyond just theoretical.
Education
Degrees in electrical engineering or networking.
Hard skills
Strong, hands- on expertise in routing, switching, and wireless.
Ability to troubleshoot, configure, and manage issues across all layers 1 4.
Flexibility to move between technologies without hesitation every engineer should be able to take on any customer case without passing it off.
Light programming/automation experience (e. g infrastructure as code, API interaction).
Soft skills
Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated by:
passion and interest for networking, wireless, firewall, switch/route
clear, structured storytelling about past projects and impact
comfort discussing uncertainty and examples where they thrived without perfect information.
curiosity about new technologies, paired with pragmatism about when and why to adopt them.
Traits to avoid
Candidates from HCL, Tata, Capgemini, Cognizant without subsequent practical experience.
AI- assisted interview responses.
Overuses buzzwords (AI, automation, transformation ) without practical examples.
