Job Summary:

The Head of Engineering & Maintenance will lead and oversee all engineering, repair, and preventive maintenance activities across farms, retail stores, and fleet.

This role ensures high equipment uptime, cost-efficient operations, and standardized practices to support business growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Strategy & Leadership

Develop and implement company-wide preventive maintenance programs for farms, stores, and fleet.
Standardize engineering practices, safety protocols, and equipment usage across all sites.
Consolidate and manage the annual R&M budget, focusing on cost efficiency.

2. Operations & Maintenance

Supervise farm-based engineering teams and store/fleet maintenance personnel.
Ensure timely resolution of breakdowns with minimal disruption to operations.
Oversee vendor/service contracts, spare parts inventory, and warranty claims.
Track and analyze downtime, cost per unit of production, and cost per km (fleet).

3. Fleet Management (in partnership with Logistics)

Oversee fleet preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, and lifecycle management.
Work with Logistics for scheduling/dispatch, while ensuring vehicles are roadworthy.
Monitor fuel efficiency and vehicle utilization.

4. Asset & Cost Management

Maintain an updated asset registry of equipment, facilities, and fleet.
Drive CAPEX planning for replacements and upgrades.
Implement cost-saving initiatives (energy efficiency, bulk procurement, vendor negotiations).

5. People & Team Development

Lead and mentor engineering teams across farms and retail.
Build a responsive maintenance culture with strong accountability and safety mindset.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (environment, building, vehicle).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial) preferred.
At least 5 years of experience Engineering management (Agribusiness is preferred).
Strong background in preventive maintenance systems, vendor management, and asset
lifecycle planning.
Leadership experience managing multi-site engineering/maintenance teams.
Solid problem-solving, negotiation, and cost management skills.
