Position: Chief Accounts Officer (CAO)

Reports To: Principal / Chairman

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Accounts Officer to head the Accounts & Finance Department of our esteemed engineering college. The CAO will be responsible for overall financial management, statutory compliance, budgeting, reporting, policy formulation, and strategic financial planning to ensure sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and monitor income vs. expenditure.
• Provide timely financial reports and analysis to management for decision-making.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations — fee collection, payroll, vendor payments, expense tracking.
• Maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards.
• Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation.
• Ensure statutory compliance relating to GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, Professional Tax, etc.
• Coordinate statutory, internal, and government audits.
• Prepare and submit all required legal and financial filings on time.
• Manage bank operations, cash flow, fund transfers, investments, grants, donations, and endowment funds.
• Maintain and verify asset registers.
• Develop and enforce financial control systems, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure financial discipline across all departments.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the Accounts & Finance team, including performance reviews and capacity building.

Qualifications:

• CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent professional qualification.
• 15-20 years’ experience in finance & accounting with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (preferably in an educational institution).
• Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, tax laws, and ERP/accounting software.
