About the Role
Yakr Pty Ltd is currently recruiting a Diagnostic Technician on behalf of RGM Maintenance in Townsville. This full-time position falls under the classification ANZSCO 321212 Diesel Motor Mechanic and is ideal for experienced professionals with strong diagnostic capabilities in heavy diesel vehicles, particularly within the Daimler product line.
Key Responsibilities:
Aligned with ANZSCO 321212 occupational classification, the successful candidate will be expected to:
Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults in diesel engines, transmissions, steering, braking, and suspension systems
Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble heavy vehicle mechanical components
Replace worn or defective parts and ensure systems are functioning to manufacturer standards
Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Use computerised diagnostic equipment to assess fault codes and performance issues
Interpret technical data and complete repair documentation accurately
Comply with safety, environmental, and roadworthiness standards
Attend to breakdowns and field service calls as needed
Candidate Requirements:
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in diesel vehicle repair and diagnostics
Proven experience with Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks is essential
Strong fault-finding skills using scan tools and diagnostic software
HR or MR driver’s licence (preferred)
Solid understanding of compliance requirements and workshop safety protocols
Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and reliability in delivering quality outcomes
